SERENITY / OPERATIONAL WHITE PAPERSTOCK CONTROL & DISTRIBUTION
Know what is available.
Know where it belongs.
Connect assembly lifecycle status with practical location control and case preparation.

The operational challenge
A tray can be physically present yet unavailable for a case because it is packed, loaded, quarantined or still in use. Stock control needs both the assembly’s recorded lifecycle and its location.
The SurgiDat approach
SurgiDat Stock Management lists sterile assemblies by assembly UID. Distribution connects eligible assemblies to identified storage slots, while search and lifecycle filters help staff distinguish recorded location from processing availability.
The value to evaluate
Consistent location scanning can reduce time spent searching and improve the quality of availability discussions. Stocktaking and case allocation provide practical checkpoints for investigating discrepancies.
SERENITY / OPERATIONAL WHITE PAPERSTOCK CONTROL & DISTRIBUTION
A practical workflow
| 01 | Define storage Set up stock locations, case carts, ORs and work stations with area, row, shelf and bin identifiers. |
| 02 | Put assemblies away Scan the target slot and assembly UIDs, then process the distribution queue. |
| 03 | Control movement Use distribution to relocate assemblies already in stock and retain an identifiable target location. |
| 04 | Review the inventory Filter lifecycle and search by UID, kit, patient, load or location. Export the current inventory list when needed. |
An illustrative scenario
A case picker needs an available tray. Search identifies candidate assemblies and their recorded lifecycle and location. Staff can locate an eligible assembly and pick its actual UID to the case instead of assuming that a kit name alone confirms availability.
Measures for a facility pilot
- • Time spent locating a required assembly
- • Physical-to-record location agreement in sampled slots
- • Case picks delayed by unavailable or unlocated assemblies
A focused starting point
Choose a storage area, label its slots and agree the scanning practice for put-away and moves. Validate inventory against physical stock before expanding. Include stocktake behavior in training.
Scope and interpretation
The Set action is a slot stocktake: assemblies recorded at that slot but not scanned move to area-only location. It is not a deletion. Inventory visibility depends on timely distribution, movement and case-allocation records.
