STERILIZATION, QUARANTINE & RELEASE

Keep the load
and its evidence together.

Follow identified assemblies through load creation, cycle selection and biological-result workflows.

The operational challenge

Sterilization records need to remain connected to the assemblies that were actually on the load. Review becomes harder when load identifiers, cycle information and biological results must be pieced together outside the processing workflow.

The SurgiDat approach

SurgiDat connects packed assembly UIDs with a sterilizer load. Teams select the cycle and machine, save the load, print a report and follow the release or Qten workflow required by facility and cycle configuration. Sterilizer printout capture adds the machine-produced printout to the review process, alongside the load and assembly context.

The value to evaluate

Linked records make it easier to review the relevant processing evidence and identify assemblies associated with a load. Controlled changes help protect saved load information while allowing authorized corrections.

STERILIZATION, QUARANTINE & RELEASE

A practical workflow

01Create the load
Choose the sterilizer and cycle. Use the next generated load number and permitted correction controls.
02Record assemblies and capture the printout
Scan packed assembly UIDs onto the saved load. Capture the sterilizer printout so staff can review the machine evidence with the processing record.
03Follow required quarantine
For cycles requiring biological Qten, enter the biological setup and result information, including the configured timing and control fields.
04Distribute after completion
Put sterile-complete assemblies into stock locations through put-away or Distribute.

An illustrative scenario

A biological result needs review. Open the quarantine entry, inspect the result details and jump to the sterilizer load to see the associated assemblies. The load and assembly identities provide the connection to later recorded stock or case allocation.

Measures for a facility pilot

A focused starting point

Configure actual sterilizer types, cycle types and physical machines. Exercise passing, failed and biological-required scenarios with nonclinical sample data. Review load-number permissions and next-sequence behavior with administrators. Confirm printout legibility and association with the correct load.

Scope and interpretation

Configured workflows support documentation and access control; they do not independently validate sterilizer performance or replace facility release procedures. Failed or deleted loads make their assemblies unusable in the documented workflow.
